Are blogger journalists?

Journalist is a profession with experiences and education. They have to be updated with the surroundings, as it is part of their career to write out to the people professionally. A journal has to be backed up by a research and appropriate facts to support it. A blog, on the other hand can be about anything, whether abstract or concrete.
Bloggers are not necessarily journalists as anyone of any age that have computer skills can become a blogger. There are indeed some bloggers who are journalists, earning money from what they write, especially from ads in their blogs but the amount of bloggers who actually earn enough to be classified as a journalist is scarce.
Many of the bloggers are young teenagers who are still studying. Young teenagers, who are experiencing major changes in their life are accompanied by strong emotions and confusions. These factors encourage them to write out their feelings in a medium and also share what’s happening in their life to their peers. Therefore, a blogger has the freedom to write about anything at all. It could be about a break up or a relationship, or just a simple post that they are tired and wants to sleep. Therefore, bloggers cannot be considered as journalists.
Besides that, many people blog to keep track of what’s happening in their life; sort of like a diary. It could be something significant to them, such as getting married or pregnant, but to the majority, it is insignificant. A journalist explores the content of what they want to write about and usually have plenty of ideas for general viewing. Bloggers, on the other hand only write what they want to and usually, lots of emotions are mixed in the post which makes it irrelevant to the public. Journalists also have to control a lot of factors in their writing pieces as to not offend anyone.
Journalist has certain requirements, like having good language skills and creative ideas. A blogger does not have to meet any pre-conditions to become one and hence they cannot be classified as the same. A blogger can write a post full of broken English and yet no one has the rights to complain. Journalists, do it for a living and a grammatical error can make them a laughing stock and pull down their market value. That said, a journalist is ‘realistic’ and practical.
In conclusion, a blogger cannot be put into the same group as journalists as they are two different things altogether. However, a blogger can choose to be a journalist, given enough effort and proper channel.

are blogger journalists?

I personally do not agree that bloggers are journalists. Journalist is a career and who have received professional education and training, have responsibilities, and have certain skills. Journalists need to be very updated with latest news on what happening around the world and they work towards reporting it. A journalist writes the reports according to the real facts and they do research on it. Besides that, a journalist need to have a good english, therefore they need to go through a training before becoming a journalist.

In the other hand, bloggers are different in another way. Plenty of bloggers, even like me, just use this medium to write what we think and feel. A blogger just writes their opinion. Everyone can be a blogger now by just registering themselves in the websites. There are alot of websites of blogging nowadays, like the one we are using right now, blogspot.com, xanga.com,blogosphere,blogdrive.com and etc.

Bloggers do not need to have good english,in fact, they can write in any languages they feel comfortable with. They even blog with combinations of languages and they can even write it in "rojak" language. Anything,as long as they feel comfortable with it.

this was taken from teycindy.com. A famous blogger from malaysia. She uses the word "chickened" and "lah" in the blog whereas, a journalist need to write it in a formal and proper language.

At the beginning, most of the bloggers use blogs to express their thoughts and feelings. But time goes by, blogger started to share about their interest in their blog, promoting their things, sharing what they got and etc. Bloggers have more freedom than journalists.

This is another famous blogger, cheeserland.com from malaysia too. She blogs about her daily life, about her dogs ( she called herself as mom for their dogs) and she is very good for her make up skills. She does alot of tutorial in make up. She always use the word "Fake One" in her blog.

Moreover, bloggers can post any pictures that they like in their blog unlike a journalist. They can only post pictures that are being approved. Bloggers can post any pictures, for advertisement, trips, idols or etc.

This guy above is the most famous blogger in Malaysia, kennysia.com. Bloggers can post funny picture like what he did in the picture above into their blog.

Without these millions of bloggers, we’d be missing some interesting things. Because we can take these tools to use for ourselves, we have a powerful opportunity to try new things. Because of all this information, we have the ability to learn more, share faster, and discover new opportunities.

Are Bloggers Journalists?

According to Wikipedia, "journalist collects and disseminates information about current events, people, trends, and issues. His or her work is acknowledged as journalism.
Reporters are one type of journalist. They create reports as a profession for broadcast or publication in mass media such as newspapers, television, radio, magazines, documentary film, and the Internet. Reporters find sources for their work, their reports can be either spoken or written, and they are often expected to report in the most objective and unbiased way to serve the public good. A columnist is a journalist who writes pieces that appear regularly in newspapers or magazines." quote from Wikipedia

Bloggers are bloggers, journalists are journalists.

In my opinion, bloggers are "unofficial" and "journalist" are "official". Journalists will post their reports after doing their researches. Most of the bloggers post what they like and what they want. Most of them are not doing researches. Bloggers speaks out their own voice but journalists speaks out the voice of the community. There are some bloggers that really do research before posting but there are only little amount of them.

Furthermore, journalists work under their own code (Code of Ethics). Their rules are strict and I do not think that most of the bloggers can follow the codes. Besides that, people pay for journalist for them to write a journal.  If all the bloggers can work as journalists, there will be no journalist exist in the world because they do not have to pay for bloggers.

Most of the bloggers speak out their own opinion but journalists speak out other people's opinion. That is the difference among most of the bloggers and journalists.

Some of the journalists are risking their life to covering the truth when there is a war at Iraq. The International Women’s Media Foundation awarded its “courage in journalism awards” to those people. This news has been published in the New York Times.

Are Bloggers Journalists?

Are bloggers journalists?
I was wondering, are bloggers consider as an unofficial journalist? Bloggers nowadays could write freely about anything, and almost anything. Thoughts, feelings, diaries, even interesting events and stuff that they wanted to share could be post on to the blog site. However, something which bothers me is about some of the things they blog, for example: a leakage of something private and confidential to other people. People couldn't sue or to take actions against these 'spoilers' as they are not journalist at the side of the law, as bloggers are just, well, bloggers!

WHAT WOULD HAPPEN? What would have happen if such irresponsible yet infantrated your privacy, and they would not received any punishment or summons from any side, and most importantly, THEY ARE LEGALLY ALLOW TO DO SO. We cant do anything about it.

How would you feel? For example, you are planning on giving your girl friend a special surprise party, and some busy body stuck their nose into your business and told the whole world about your plan, how would you feel? You would go crazy, am I right?

I personally feels that law should be enforced against all these bloggers, I agree with those who wanted their privacy to be protected and punished those who cross the line of privacy and confidential. Actions should be taken as if not, this kind of immorality actions would end up encourage more and more of these 'spoilers' to break into other peoples privacy.

Besides that, news spread in light speed within the blog, whether it's true or false. People only post things which brought interest to them, and they don't think about whether it's true or false. Some unwanted events would occur due to these kind of post. Example, I did not said anything bad about the company I'm working in, however, due to some gossip, a colleague of mine post something on the web which emphasize that I was backstabbing my company.

For that, I was blame by my company and I was fired. So far, there is nothing we can do to overcome these kind of problems. Even by the side of the law, we cant do anything to prevent other people to do so. How frustrating! As if they are journalist of your life and post everything about you but you cant do anything to prevent them to do so. For me, they are the evil twin of the journalists. They do give information, but not a healthy one.

These are my opinions, what's yours?

Are Blogger Journalists ????

Are Bloggers considered as Journalists ?
That is a question which are in the mind of many people for years ..........

As a Journalists , they are responsible for get the latest information and distribute the information to the public to make sure that the public is always getting updated information about ours world.

As a blogger , they do not have any responsible like a journalists , most of them are write something which is related to themself , the purpose of them for writing a blog is they wanna to share their experience , feeling or else ......... BUT THAT DOES NOT MEAN ALL !!

For What I Think , the blogger and journalists is almost the same , but journalists are on Traditional media which is paper-based , like magazine ,newspaper etc ....... and blogger is on their blog, that why we called them as blogger. But what is the biggest different between them is journalists are getting control under the law , and the blogger are NOT in Malaysia .

Before a person works as a journalist , they needed to be train in everything ..... writing skill , languages skill , grammar and more ......... but a blogger no need to be train ... so that why , the Article wrote by a journalist is always better that a blogger. Just imagine that , if a journalist did not using proper languages ...... it will effect many people ...... including the young generation , they are learning the wrong languages and getting "polluted" .....

A journalists cannot simply write something , cause when they are writing something wrong or else , it might cause a chaos , or other terrible effect . After that , the journalist will be caught under the law , they are controlled by the law .But , a bloggers , he or she can just write anything they wanna to write , they no need to worry about anything because at Malaysia , that still don't have a specific law is related to internet crime or something like this ...... since the blogger are not controlled under the law , they just don need to scare anything , they can just write anything they want to write , although that is illegal for write and it may cause the chaos and terrible effect .........

for example : In this world , everyone got its one privacy , we must respect to other people privacy , that is a “Restricted area” which we cannot step inside , but some blogger they are just don't haven moral value !! Since the blog can help you to earn more money if the click is higher, so those blogger they just wanna to post something which can make his or hers blog become more interesting and attract other people come visit their blog , they just don't care about anything , they spy and post other people privacy......... and post something which might cause a terrible effect ..........

As the conclusion , some of the bloggers , they can considered as journalist ,because they just wanna to share the information and their personal experience , feeling about those information.

but for some of them , they are not considered as a journalist , some more they are do some illegal thing by "legal" , just because that the law problem ! so i strongly recommend that Malaysia government must enforce the law about internet crime ...... but before that Malaysia should enhance the education system which is on information technology to produce more people who are expert in this field ........
for execute this kind of laws .........

Are bloggers journalists?

Journalist... What is a journalist??

"A journalist collects and disseminates information about current events, people, trends, and issues." From Wikipedia.

I don't think ALL bloggers are consider as a journalist, that make it there are bloggers out there that I consider them as a journalist.

Example of a blogger that I consider as journalist,

NicoleKiss.
A famous travel blog author, update her blog on her travel around the world. Introducing those nice places that travel agent won't bring the tour to.
She even was interview by Project Alpha, Malaysia first online television program about Top10 Malaysia Bloggers.

Vkeong.
A famous food blog author, he introduce nice food way better than those Food channel on television.
His blog is the Top10 Malaysia Food Blog.
They write their blog professionally.

Example of a blogger that i don't consider as a non-journalist.
Most Personal blog author which use their blog as a Online diary.
An online diary is a personal diary or journal that is published on the World Wide Web on a personal website or a diary-hosting website. From Wikipedia

Someone writing their blogs about his/her feelings, or maybe the "personal blog author favorite update", the daily report of where they went, what they ate, what they did.

Can you consider they as a journalist!?

Are Bloggers Journalist????

Well, I can say that a big portion of people in the community are wondering about this issue which is 'Are Bloggers Can be Consider as a Journalist'?? Actually bloggers are people who always writes a blog or weblog and comments other people's blog. While journalists are people who collects and disseminates information about up to date events, people, trends and issues. Therefore, his/her work is acknowledged as journalism. Journalist is a career and who have received professional education and training, have responsibilities, and have certain skills

One example of journalist are reporters. Their responsibilities are creating reports aas a profession for broadcast or publication in mass media such as newspapers, television, radio, magazines and the internet. Besides reporters, columnist is also known as one of the journalist who writes pieces that appear regularly in newspapers or magazines. Some journalist adhere to the to the standards and norms expressed in the Society of Professional Journalist ethical code. Therefore most of practicing journalist are concern about about the issue of maintaining credibility.

On the other hand, bloggers plays a similar role compare to journalist. Usually bloggers will post about what they think or feels about a something. Then anyone can be a blogger by just registering their names at the websites. Bloggers do not need to be well educated such as have good language but they have the freedom to write whatever that suits them. They can even post blogs in multiple languages until they feel comfortable with it. Currently there are many websites that can be used by bloggers to post their articles.

So are bloggers considered as journalist?? Actually I feel that bloggers have the same characteristics with journalist but they are not in the same field. Bloggers are actually people who like to express their feelings, thought or maybe even telling people about something new. They don't even care about whether is it true or not or maybe it's just a myth. Usually bloggers intention is to let other people know what he/she is thinking or planning to do. They don;t even care if the post they blog will hurt other people feelings or maybe will create a chaos. This is because there are many useless people who like to act as 'anonymous' or 'unknown' and post bad
comments or critics about their post and makes the bloggers wondering who is he/she. Therefore for the long run, it creates a bad impression to other people on that specific post until government can't do anything about it. They can just watch the problem happens. Besides that, journalist differs with bloggers. They are assigned to create blogs or articles about what is happening around us and all of it totally relates to common sense. Even most of the article is a true by the sense it really happens in the real world. Therefore, most of the comments from outsiders are good and there a less majority of bad comments. On the other hand, people who like to be 'spoilers' or 'anonymous' to damage people's comments or blogs about something they don't like. Therefore, the government or relevant authorities should take deep action on this matter. If not it will be a disaster for the bloggers and maybe will effect the journalist in the future because they are in the same field. For example, both of their working field are the same that is writing articles or blogs that is related to the surroundings. Just that the articles they post are slightly different.

Besides that, ournalist is career that receive professional training in education and communication skills so do professional bloggers. Actually they do have careers that makes them professional bloggers. Not like newbie bloggers who like to post blogs that is not related to their life at all because from what I saw in most blogs, they like to give bad comments about someone they don't like or hate then it will create a mass chaos and misunderstanding. This shows that
bloggers are not well educated in moral values and language where they can use not proper language in writing their blogs. It will effects their future when they start communicating with other people in the outside world. I suggest that journalist should be an example to all bloggers because journalist have limitation in such as bound to the rules or can't post sensitive issues that will hurt others feelings.

In conclusion, not everyone will think that bloggers are not journalist. The problem is how each
different individual look into this matter. Maybe some will think bloggers have more freedom in creating blogs and journalists not or maybe is another way round. Furthermore regarding the language problem and moral value, if government or related authorities doesn't take serious action about this, in the long run will affect the young ones in the future because they are the future leaders in the community. If they are not well mannered from small, then sooner the whole community will be full of not professional peoples and criminals.

Social Media

What is Social Media?
According to  Andreas Kaplan and Michael Haenlein, social media is group of Internet-based applications that build on the ideological and technological foundations of Web 2.0, and that allow the creation and exchange of user-generated content.

Nowadays, we are entering an era that we are connected with each other through Internet. Social media can be said to have three compounds, concept, media and social interference. There are many type and different forms of social media.

When you are studying art, devianART will be your right choice to share your own artworks and getting some new ideas for your design by viewing other people's artworks. Sometimes, when I am stuck with my assignments, devianART will be the best place for me to get idea. Besides that, when u uploaded your artwork on devianART, people will comment about your work. Your skill will get better and better.

Besides that, social media is a network that let people communicate and connect to each other. It help us to know more people, explore more things, Social media will change according to time. The only thing that will not change is its function, TO CONNECT PEOPLE EVERYWHERE.

social media

Social media is a category of online media where people are talking, participating, sharing, networking is a category of online media where people are talking, participating, sharing, networking and etc.

I started using hotmail when i was in standard 5. I still remember the first tool for everyone to stay connected was using ICQ. It was very famous at that time and slowly MSN Messenger took over the place and they improved until this latest version called as Windows Live Messenger.

For me, i prefer using Windows Live Messenger the most to stay connected with all my friends because they are improving it day by day which makes our life much more easier. Besides that,i am able to categorized all my friends into each category. For instance, i categorize them into different type of schools they are from, relatives or the way how i met them. There are so many contacts in my lists, thus, by using category, it categorized them in few categories which don't make me confuse anymore.

I am having a long distance relationship. My boyfriend is currently studying in singapore, therefore, this is the only way we are able stay connected to each other besides calling each other which costs quite alot. We use both skype and Windows Live Messenger to video call with each other. It allows us to stay connected with anyone whether it is long or short distance. In my opinion,i would prefer using Windows Live Messenger than Skype because Windows Live Messenger is more stable than Skype. Skype will just cut off automatically after a few hours.

I am in University now, i am in a different pathway and different place with my secondary school friends. We have a group in our contact list which we can discuss about gathering or outing with each other in an easier and faster way than calling and making sure with everyone which takes a longer time. We can keep ourselves updated with our latest news and thus, our close relationship can still be maintained.

Facebook is very famous among everyone in the different range of age. Facebook has taken over Friendster which was very famous before this. Facebook has alot of different applications which allow us to use. It is like a package which includes everything inside. Facebook is like the "nescafe 3 in 1" which includes everything. We are also able to chat in it,send messages like email, playing games, updating each other and etc. Well, it is not a surprise knowing our parents are using Facebook too because it is an effective tool to stay connected with everyone in the whole world. No doubt, i feel so uncomfortable when i couldn't even login to my facebook even only a day. I feel as if i have already missed out a lot of informations or activities that are happening in facebook. Well,i would say it already plays an important role in my life.

Youtube, it is also one of the website that i visited the most nowadays. As a person who likes dreaming about idols, artists, actors and actresses loves this website the most. I am able to catch up with the shows screening in television, live concerts or interviews in Youtube. I am able to know the atmosphere in the concerts, the episodes of the show that i missed and alot more.

As a conclusion, i would like to say that social media allows us to stay connected, knowing in just a click and faster way. Before the newspaper publish it, we already know it before hand. There are so many things that we can do in just a website nowadays. Moreover, we are able to sit down, relax at home because everything can be done in just a click.

Social Media

Social Media? Social Media! Social Media?!

Social media had been around in our lives and for me, it had been there since the first time I got my hands on the internet. Well, I'm sure everyone had heard about the Window Live Messenger, since it is one of the social media with the most users. What's so good about it?

Well, for me, it had help me in communicating with friends and families who are far away from me. What it help the most, is the time when I'm doing my group assignments. Well, as you can see, in a group, it means many people, and all of us stayed far away from each other and the furthest would be at Klang, which is a 30 minutes drive from our campus hostel. THAT IS VERY FAR! If that is the case, group discussion will be very hard. With the MSN (Window Live Messenger), discussion is just only a click away.

This is how i manage to communicate with my friends about all the assignments and besides discussions, we could even send files to each others to get approval and seek opinions from each other.

Besides that, it is like a mini window to communicate with your friends. MSN provides the function of video calling where you and your friend can see each other while talking through video.

Plus, you get the chance to interact with friends since there are games and entertainments provided by MSN.

Keeping in touch is a very hard thing to do yet, Window Live Messenger break down the wall of impossibility and brought communication one step easier.

Social media

Our social lives have been enhanced with the invention of the Internet. In the ancient times when even the telephone is not available, one has to travel and meet the person he/she wants to convey a message to by face just to transfer information between one another. In the present, with just a click on the mouse and a few strokes on the keyboard, messages can be sent at lightning speed.

With recent creations of social websites like Facebook and Friendster, people can communicate much more effectively with one another and get to know more people in the comfort of their own house. This factor has both its pros and cons, but definitely the first outweighs the latter.

Besides that, the creation of Youtube has made social networking expand. Normal people, with enough talents, skills or creativities can be famous with just a video. Going back to the old ages, for a normal person to be famous, he/she has to climb a long way up the ladder with so much of effort just to have a try whether he/she can make it out of the norm. In addition, Youtube has made our life more simpler. Tutorial videos are way more effective than just words and pictures, if a skill is to be learnt or any other example alike.

The present social media level can be easily pictured in a program we use in our daily lives, the MSN messenger or any other messengers alike. This particular evolution has made our lives simpler and helped us save costs and time by a big degree. It is also bad in a way that, this evolution made our generation lazier. As an example, assignment answers can be shared so easily that the benefits of our current social level is questionable.

In conclusion, social media with our current technology has both its pros and cons. The many choices of expanding our network socially should all be taken account of and be handled maturely as to not misuse what technology has given us.

Social Media

What is Social Media?!
According to wiktionary, social media is define as media that is created to be shared freely.

Today's most popular thing among youth until the market place is the social networking website call the Facebook.
It is a must for most of the teenagers to login at least once everyday, if possible they will stay online on facebook for 24hours a day.
Because of its so popular, company are now advertising their latest product there.
Not only company are promoting themselves through facebook, bloggers are promoting their blogs there as well.

As for Me, I'm a facebook addict.
I'm on facebook as long I'm somewhere which have internet coverage.
How facebook help me?
For example, there is a rumors of Media Culture is canceled...
If more than 100 student is talking about it on facebook, that make the rumors true!

Another example how facebook help me...
I wanna buy a pair of crocs, but I'm not sure where get it cheap.
So I posted it on my facebook wall.

Another example how facebook help me.
I'm stuck at my home, and finding a way to get back to Cyberjaya.
Once again, Facebook solve my problem!!!

Social Media

What is social media?? Social Media are designed to interact through social interaction, using high technology publishing techniques. Social media uses web-based technologies to transform and broadcast media monologues into social media dialogues. Social media have been modernized to reach consumer's needs in a new way especially through the internet. Social media have become appealing to big and small businesses. Let us take Twitter for example, it has expanded its global reach to Japan, Indonesia, and Mexico, etc. Besides Twitter, there are many other popular networking sites such as Myspace, Facebook and Windows Live Messenger (MSN) are the most commonly used for socialization and connecting friends, relatives and even employees.

Obviously nowadays u can see many people started to use Facebook as their main source of communication among their friends. As the number of Facebook users are increasing,it influences them to use other types of software to communicate with each other such as the 'Winndows Live Messenger' or 'Skype'. I totally agree with it. Futhermore, i realise that not only teenagers or young children are interested in this kind of social media, even elderly people also are interested in this. For example my father also have an Facebook and Twitter account and he seems to like it very much. Almost everyday he will sit in front of the computer table and start Facebooking. Besides that, even lecturers and tutors post videos or announcements either in Youtube or Facebook, i'm kinda impressed with their knowledge about Social Media as deep as teenagers or young children. This shows that they are updated to what is happening around them.

Besides Facebook and Twitter, there is another type of social media that most of the users used nowadays that is 'Blog'. A 'blog' is a type of website usually maintained by an individual that is called blogger, with regular entries of commentary descriptions of events, or other material such
as graphics or video. Many blogs provide commentary or news on a particular subject; others function as a personal online diaries. It creates the ability of readers to leave comments in an interactive format is an important part of many blogs. Actually this is my first time blogging as a blogger. Before this i feel that blogs are boring and it takes a lot of our precious times on writing a blog. So might as spend that time on our studies than blogging.

But on the other side, I realised that social media are not only helps in the good side but it also contributes to the bad side. I feel that most of the online game users misused online game as the social media tool. This is because when they are communicating with each other, they prefer to use vulgar words more than proper language. So I feel that it ruins a person's moral value and they will take that as their main communication language and use it on other situations in the future.

In conclusion, social media has a lot variety of ways of communicating with each other and has its own pros and cons. Therefore, we must choose wisely on which type of social media that suits a certain of a person. Even though it helps us to stay connected with people that far from you, knowing each other with just a click and faster way. But if it goes out of control then there will be a lot of problems occur in the society and leads to misunderstanding among each other. Therefore we must think wisely before we move on with it.
